how to add FlagCounter in your wordpress blog?

It’s pretty simple, here’s the steps:
1. visit FlagCounter http://flagcounter.com/ and go to section “Customize Your New Flag Counter” as per your wordpress theme/looks
2. click the button “GET YOUR FLAG COUNTER”
3. it will generate 2 codes, take the “Code for websites” one and copy it.
4. go to your wordpress dashboard
5. widget – text, paste it on text. DONE! :)

i was facing the problem in my current theme that the sidebar width is not matching with column number in FlagCounter, i set the coulumn as 3 and what happen is, the FlagCounter is overlapping my wordpress sidebar. So to solve this is just generate one more time with 2 column, that simple.

about a social networking

I bet you have at least 1 account in some social networking site. I join one of the popular social networking site as well at that time, I dont remember when is the exact time, i guess it sometime around… when i still in univ. i was not really look into that website cause i more enjoying outdoor activity rather than look much into pc and do school exercise, it was many-friends-join-there-and-asked-me-to-join which motivated me to join. But than i put more attention into this site just right after i had my first job, i had more time on PC, and i was searching contacts of friends, connecting with friends motivated me to put more time in this site. Well, outdoor activities is not reflected with me anymore, i always cursing for that :D

Right now, there is more than 40 popular social networking sites, and some country identic with particular site, like US with myspace, south-east asia with friendster, india with orkut, japan with mixi, south korea with cyworld, and also include with local social network sites. It is understandable, some country will have their own community which make them stick to one site only.

More and more social network sites has grown wild :) and force a body to make it standardize, it is not only for the money (advertising), but also for it’s trend, hip, and fame ;) . So you can imagine if we found friends who ask us “hey, go join this A site” “find me on B site” .. and so on, just crazy, it is not worth a time for me to maintain a lot of account (i guess for others too). I decided not to add another nor change.

Some undergraduates from stanford univ. smell this as a good business, they create web apps. which can connect all of these social network sites, and we can search person across them, nice idea.

And new site come to town, and i did join and maintain it, of course there’s reasons behind:
1. Most of my friends have account on this site.
2. Nice User Interface (compare to the old one, which has unbalance advertising banner .. yuck)
3. easy to use (i have complaint that initially it was not easy, it was complicated, too much features and addons scattered on main page, but they fix it recently, neat, organize page is shown now)

The important one, it is the group and RSVP application which make me encourage others to use this site. I had experience helping marko and vieda organize their Buka Puasa BBQ, make an Event, preparing lists of invitation, send it to them, and there is menu for invitee to respond, with their respond we can populate the data and decide how much food we have to prepare, budget, whether the place is enough for this number of people or not, or the place is too big, or whatever. Useful.
Later on, I want to make an event in Jember, high-school mates, class of 99, we only have mailing list to maintain communication among us, and messenger for “non-official” communication line. I sent the invitation to the mailing list, got responses, and had problem to populate it, and present it as a data. I was wondering about an application for class of 99, the member should login to this application, and it easy for me too maintain.
Should I make this application? or should i grouping people on the social network site, and make invitation accordingly? which one is better? re-invite the wheel? or optimize the other?

It is not that easy to abandon the other account, but I just hate maintain lots of account, especially when it’s better and free application ;)

They should pay me for this blog.

Use the stats

Statistik ini salah banyak dari pelajaran yg gw hindari, karena apa? data2nya bok, banyak dan kita mesti teliti, lebih-lebih lagi karena gw males, ini faktor utamanya :D . Tapi, untuk menggunakan statistik, whoohoo.. betah gw lihatin grafik, apalagi kalo disajikan dengan amat-amat menarik.

Karena jadwal kerja yang amat padat dan ngga masuk akal untuk spare the time for my life :( , kadang2 gw bertanya2 dan merasa khawatir, “wah sekarang lagu yg lagi ngetrend apaan ya? ntar gw balik indo di cap cupu lah, ngga gaul lah”, padahal si emang gitu, kan gw orangnya pemalu, halah :D .
Trus, gimana cara cari taunya? gampang, lihat di Google Music Trends , dah ketauan music mana aja yg ngetrend, tinggal cari di internet, dengerin, coret satu poin yg mengurangi ketidakgaulan gw :) .
Nah, kalo elu balik ke indo trus ditanyain “eh, no, tau lagunya <judul lagu salah satu artis indo> ngga?” ya 1st, tinggal tanya temen aja lah, sapa2 yg lagunya trend sekarang di indo sebelum balik. 2nd ngeles aja pake bilang “wah, sori ya gw lebih ngikutin trend di yu-es ya bok”, tinggal siap2 aja ngeles ditimpukin sendal :D .

Sampai akhirnya si Raka kasih link presentasinya Hans Rosling di TED, dimana dia mempresentasikan data2 dan dirangkum luar biasa, superb deh, hi recomended -menurut gw sii-. Setelah lihat presentasinya, gw jadi pingin lihat2 data2, dan gw kunjungilah Google Trends.
Google Trends punya grafik diikuti news link related dengan apa yg kita pingin cari trendnya, dan dibawanya ada 3 tab bar Regions, City, Languages. Google akan sorting top 10 dari keyword kita.
Pertama gw coba2 aja dengan kata digital tv, kerjaan gw ni :) , disitu kelihatan UK, London karena memang UK memang jadi standartnya DVB, so, sortingnya valid dan bagus, google ga salah itung ^^.
Testing kedua, cari kata bali, pusat pariwisata Indonesia, kita dapetin Indonesia, Denpasar #1, orang Bali sangat cinta pulaunya ^^, beberapa negara tetangga juga nongol, singapore, australia, netherland meskipun jauh kita itung tetangga karena hubungan historis, yg menarik kita temukan Switzerland && Austria. OK, testing kedua juga okeh, lagi2 google ga salah itung data ^^.

NAH, sekarang timbul jahil gw :) , gw mo cari negara paling bokep, gw cari kata sex porn, hahahah, ternyata yg muncul di #1 South Africa, Norway, Croatia, untuk kota Milton Keynes, United Kingdom; Delhi, India; Thames Ditton, United Kingdom. Google sakti ^^.

JAHIL KEDUA, gw mo tau kota mana yg paling bokep, hahaha, resultnya adalah Cirebon, Samarinda, Bandung, Panjang, Palembang, Jakarta…
dan perhatikan deh, grafiknya semakin naik tajam..buset, cirebon??? hahah seriuss bok??
eh, jgn2 salah itung? bentar2, kl gitu testing dikit gw masukin kata inul :) , resultnya Cirebon, Panjang, Pekanbaru, Jember, Madiun. OK, Jember masuk, jadi result tadi ngga salah, Google ngga salah itung ^^. Gara2 gw ngetes pake keyword inul, gw jadi penasaran, tipe2 artis kaya gimana disukain orang mana si? gw test dengan key nia ramadhani, titi kamal, dian sastro, mariana renata, ratu felisha, ternyata Cirebon nomer satu di nama2 ini kecuali titi kamal dan ratu felisha, didominasi kota2 di kalimantan dan sumatra, satu lagi, Timor Timur ternyata juga masih perhatian sama artis2 ini ^^.

Berhubung gw masih penasaran sama Cirebon, gw coba berhusnudzon, berbaiksangka :) , kali aja emang penetrasi internet tertinggi ini emang di Cirebon ^^.
Gw testing aah, gw masukin key tokoh2 politik: SBY, amien rais, wiranto, hamzah haz, megawati. Not even in the top 10!! halah :D . Gw cari lagi dengan key soekarno, soeharto, habibie, gus dur, samasekali ngga nongol di soekarno, di tiga sisanya pun ngga masuk top 3. hihihihihi :D .

ninovsnino: dih, biarin aja, salah ndiri nama Cirebon nongol :D .

ninovsnino: lah, bukan gw yg ngomong, kan itu katanya si google :D .

Ada apakah dengan Cirebon?? :D hihihi, biar pembaca tidak merasa bias gw testing lagi dengan key aa gym, Cirebon numero uno ^^ :) . Eh, tapi tetep aja gw masih penasaran deh, apa gara2 disana ada pegawai BPS Pertamina ya? kan kl masi disana blom boleh kawin, eh nikah? hehehe.

Kita dapat memanfaatkan informasi dan grafik di Google Trends ini dengan maximal juga loh, misalnya kita mau cari tau siapa yg lebih populer dari tokoh2 politik kita di internet
SBY, amien rais, wiranto, hamzah haz, megawati, Google Trends bakalan compare key-key ini.
Nah, artinya kita juga bisa compare trend bisnis juga doonk, bisnis apa yg menarik,
bisa kita cari apa yg orang2 cari di internet akhir2 ini. Ya kan? :) .
